The Irregular at Magic High School

Set in the 2090s, this light novel series by Tsutomu Satō explores a world where technology and magic coexist. The story follows Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba as they enroll at First High School for Magic. While Miyuki shines with her talents, Tatsuya faces ridicule for his seemingly weak abilities. These siblings must navigate their new school life while hiding their dangerous ties to the powerful Yotsuba clan. The original web novel ran from October 2008 to March 2011 before Dengeki Bunko published 32 volumes between July 2011 and September 2020. Yen Press brought the English version to readers, and the books have sold over 22 million copies worldwide. The franchise expanded quickly with multiple manga adaptations starting in 2013 and an anime series by Madhouse that aired in 2014. Later seasons by Eight Bit arrived in 2020 and 2024, alongside several films including one adapting the Reminiscence Arc in 2021. A direct sequel titled The Irregular at Magic High School Magian Company began in October 2020, focusing on the characters after graduation.
