The Incredibles

Bob Parr, once known as Mr. Incredible, now spends his days pushing paper as an insurance adjuster and his nights trying to fit into a world that outlawed superheroes. The Incredibles opens in a world where superheroes are celebrated, with newsreel footage showing Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl fighting crime. Bob Parr, as Mr. Incredible, is at the peak of his career, but a series of incidents, including a lawsuit from a man he saved, leads the government to outlaw superhero activity. All heroes are forced into hiding under the Superhero Relocation Program.

Fifteen years later, Bob and Helen live a quiet suburban life with their three children: Violet, a shy teenager who can turn invisible and create force fields; Dash, a hyperactive boy with super speed; and baby Jack-Jack, who has yet to show any powers. Bob works a soul-crushing job at an insurance company, where he secretly helps claimants by using his strength, much to the dismay of his micromanaging boss, Mr. Huff. Bob's frustration boils over one day when he loses his temper and throws Huff through several walls, narrowly avoiding exposure.

Bob's old friend Lucius Best, also known as Frozone, shares his longing for the old days. One night, Bob receives a cryptic message on a hidden tablet from a woman named Mirage, offering him a secret mission on a remote island. Fabricating a story about a business trip, Bob accepts and travels to the island, where he battles a powerful robot called the Omnidroid. He defeats it using a clever trick, but the victory feels hollow when Mirage refuses to pay him, claiming it was just a test.

Back home, Bob's return is marred by a strange new suit from fashion designer Edna Mode, whom he visited secretly for an upgrade. Helen grows suspicious when she finds a torn piece of the suit and a strand of long black hair. Using a tracking device she planted on Bob's car, she discovers he has returned to the island. Meanwhile, Bob is lured back for another mission against an upgraded Omnidroid. This time, the robot is too strong, and Bob is nearly killed. He is saved by Mirage, who reveals that the entire operation is run by Syndrome, a villainous tech genius who was once Buddy Pine, Bob's rejected teenage sidekick.

Syndrome plans to unleash the Omnidroid on Metroville and then defeat it publicly, selling his technology to make everyone super, thereby eliminating the need for natural-born heroes. Bob is captured, and Helen, realizing the danger, commandeers a private jet with the help of Edna Mode, who outfits the entire family with new suits. Violet and Dash initially struggle to cooperate, but they must work together when Syndrome's missiles shoot down their plane. Helen stretches to protect her children as they crash-land on the island, and the family infiltrates Syndrome's base, eventually freeing Bob.[edit]
