About
The Honey Baked Ham Company started in 1957 when Harry J. Hoenselaar opened the first store in Detroit, Michigan. Hoenselaar had invented the first meat spiral-slicing machine back in 1944, filing a patent for it. After struggling to sell the machine, he bought The Honey Baked Ham Co. from the widow of his former boss, William Hubenet, for just $500. The first store sold hams cured in a secret marinade, smoked over hardwood chips, and finished with that signature sweet, crunchy glaze that people still crave today.
Now run by the third generation of the Hoenselaar family, the company operates over 425 locations across the United States. The headquarters sits at 3875 Mansell Rd in Alpharetta, Georgia, where CEO Dave Keil leads the team. The menu has grown beyond the classic spiral-sliced ham to include premium turkey breasts, heat-and-serve sides, desserts, sandwiches, and new Take & Bake Sliders and Biscuits. You can buy in-store, order online for pickup, or have it shipped.
The brand has become a holiday staple for many American families, showing up at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinners. In recent years, the company refreshed its look with a fun, contemporary design and a new color palette that nods to its craft heritage. Promotional stunts like Hamergency Kits, designed to rescue holiday cooking disasters, keep the brand playful. The tagline We're the #HAMFAM builds a sense of community among employees and customers alike.
