The Daily Caller
United States"A leading voice in conservative news and opinion"
About
The Daily Caller launched on January 11, 2010, as the third Washington-based news site alongside Talking Points Memo and Politico. Founders Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel raised $3 million from businessman Foster Friess and started with a reporting staff of 21 in its D.C. office. The site was conceived as a conservative alternative to The Huffington Post, an ambition reflected in its early growth: by 2012 it had quadrupled its audience and turned profitable, and by 2013 it surpassed several rival websites in reach.
The outlet operates out of 1920 L Street NW, 2nd Floor, Washington, D.C., with a secondary address at 1750 H Street NW. Neil Patel, formerly a chief policy advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney, bought out Carlson's stake to become majority owner. Current leadership includes Amber Duke as Editor-in-Chief and Eric Lieberman as Managing Editor. The site claims more than 11 million unique monthly visitors and 60 million monthly pageviews, with annual revenue between $100 million and $250 million. In 2020, The New York Times called it a pioneer in online conservative journalism. As of 2025, The Daily Caller holds a seat in the White House press pool.
Beyond its main website, The Daily Caller operates the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), an independent newswire service that distributes content free of charge to legitimate news publishers. The service requires attribution with the DCNF logo and reporter byline. The outlet also offers native advertising and optional registration for commenting. Its editorial mix includes original reporting, investigations, commentary, and breaking news across politics, world events, sports, business, and culture.
