The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses
Kōji Seo
Overview
Hayato Yamai inherits a seaside café from his grandmother only to find the place already occupied by five young women claiming to be Greek goddesses. These divine employees, ranging from the fiery Athena to the gentle Aphrodite, insist on helping him run the business while navigating their own immortal quirks. The story unfolds through daily interactions in the kitchen and dining room, blending slapstick comedy with moments of genuine emotional growth as Hayato learns to lead a found family.
Kōji Seo launched the series in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine on February 17, 2021, building on his reputation from earlier hits like Suzuka. The main serialization wrapped up on November 5, 2025, after reaching 22 collected volumes. A character popularity poll during the run saw Akane Hōjō take first place, prompting a special tenth-volume edition that included a bonus pamphlet titled "Akanebon" filled with extra illustrations and side stories.
The franchise expanded into animation with Tezuka Productions adapting the source material for two seasons. The first run aired from April to June 2023, followed by a second season broadcasting from July to September 2024. Crunchyroll licensed both seasons internationally, releasing trailers and promotional visuals throughout mid-2024. In January 2026, Seo announced an irregular serialization format to continue the world beyond the main arc.
