The Bridge

Released on October 30, 1995, The Bridge stands as the second studio album from Swedish pop group Ace of Base. Distributed by Mega Records across Europe and Arista Records internationally, this record marked a shift in the band's creative process. For the first time, all four members, Jenny Berggren, Linn Berggren, Jonas Berggren, and Ulf Ekberg, took significant roles in writing, production, vocals, and harmonies.

The collection features twelve tracks that blend upbeat dance rhythms with reflective lyrics centered on love and personal growth. This approach signaled a maturation from their debut efforts while maintaining their signature Europop sound. Lead single Beautiful Life became a major commercial hit, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and peaking at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Second single Lucky Love followed suit, climbing to number 30 on the Hot 100 and securing top-ten status in several European countries.

A third single titled Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry appeared later but failed to match the momentum of its predecessors. Critical reception remained generally positive, praising the cohesive mix of danceable beats and emotional depth. Commercially, the album continued the massive success of the group, contributing to their status as one of the best-selling female acts globally. A special double vinyl edition celebrating the album's thirtieth anniversary arrived in January 2026, offering collectors original artwork and a rare interview with the band members. [edit]
