Tell Me You Love Me

Demi Lovato stepped away from pure pop for her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me, released on September 29, 2017. Island, Hollywood, and Safehouse Records put out this 14-track project that leans heavily into soul and R&B. Lovato cited Christina Aguilera, Aretha Franklin, and Kehlani as key inspirations while working with producers like Mitch Allan, Stint, and John Hill to craft a warmer, more emotive sound. The lead single "Sorry Not Sorry" became a massive hit, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning seven times platinum certification. The title track followed as the second single, also achieving double platinum status despite a lower chart peak. Critics praised the record's production quality and Lovato's vocal delivery, often calling it her best work up to that point. The album cracked the top ten in countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. To promote the LP, Lovato launched the Tell Me You Love Me World Tour in 2018.
