Tekken 8

Bandai Namco Studios and Arika brought Tekken 8 to PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on January 26, 2024. This eighth mainline entry marks the series' first home console debut, skipping arcades entirely. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game shifts toward aggressive, high-octane combat. The new Heat system rewards relentless offense, while Tornado hits replace previous wall bounce mechanics, creating flashier combos and more explosive exchanges. Arcade Quest, an online mode, lets players create avatars, compete in tournaments, and earn custom currency.

The story mode, The Dark Awakens, picks up six months after Tekken 7. It centers on the final clash between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, but also introduces Reina, Heihachi's previously unknown daughter. Jun Kazama returns in her first canonical appearance since Tekken 2, alive and playing a key role. An additional mode, Unforgettable Echoes, follows Lidia Sobieska, Eddy Gordo, and Yoshimitsu as they uncover ancient Mishima clan secrets, culminating in Heihachi's resurrection after his defeat by Kazuya.

Critics praised the graphics, aggressive gameplay, story, and series progression. Tekken 8 was the last game series director Katsuhiro Harada worked on before leaving Bandai Namco in 2025. [edit]
