MTV's Teen Wolf took a familiar supernatural premise and turned it into a smart, fast-paced drama that ran for six seasons from 2011 to 2017. Beacon Hills, California, is a town where the fog never quite lifts and the woods hide more than deer. Scott McCall, a 16-year-old asthmatic lacrosse player, finds his life upended when he and his best friend Stiles Stilinski discover a dead body in the preserve. Searching for answers, Scott is bitten by an Alpha werewolf and wakes up with enhanced senses, super strength, and a dangerous lack of control under the full moon. The bite connects him to a hidden world of werewolves, hunters, and other creatures, all while he tries to keep his grades up, win lacrosse games, and date the new girl, Allison Argent.

Allison's family, the Argents, are centuries-old werewolf hunters. Her father Chris operates under a strict code, but her aunt Kate is ruthless. Scott must hide his identity from the girl he loves while her family hunts him. Guided by the brooding Derek Hale, the last survivor of a family pack killed in a fire, Scott tracks the Alpha terrorizing the town. Season 2 introduces the Kanima, a venomous shapeshifter controlled by a vengeful student, and Lydia Martin begins to hear screams no one else can. Season 3 splits into two 12-episode arcs: the first brings a rival Alpha pack from Europe, forcing Derek to build a pack of his own; the second, widely considered the show's peak, introduces Kira Yukimura, a thunder kitsune, and a malevolent chaos spirit called the Nogitsune that possesses Stiles, turning the comic relief into the season's most terrifying villain.

Season 4 finds Scott stepping up as a true Alpha while facing the Deadpool, a list of supernatural creatures targeted by a mysterious Benefactor. Malia Tate, a were-coyote who lived as a wild animal for eight years, joins the pack. Season 5 splits the group as they confront the Dread Doctors, three scientists creating monstrous chimeras. Liam Dunbar becomes Scott's beta, and Lydia unlocks her full potential as a Banshee. The final season, Season 6, is also split in two. The first half features the Ghost Riders, spectral cowboys from the Wild Hunt who erase people from existence, including all memory of them. The pack must remember and rescue Stiles after he is taken. The second half brings the story full circle with a new hunter army led by former student Monroe and the Anuk-Ite, a fear-eating monster that turns anyone who meets its gaze to stone.
