$tarface

Tyga stepped into the shoes of his alter ego $tarface for a ninth studio album that arrived on July 31, 2026. This project marks a sharp turn from his usual hip-hop catalog, drawing heavy inspiration from the 1983 film Scarface and the sonic landscape of the 1980s. The record blends synth-wave, pop, R&B, and funk across its tracklist to create a distinct concept narrative about a coke runner losing everything.

The lead single "Gave U Racks" dropped earlier in the month on July 3 to build anticipation for this genre-bending experiment. Critics described the work as smug and complacent, noting an amalgam of '80s synth-pop and disco that lacked depth or genuine musical understanding. Pitchfork awarded it a historic zero out of ten rating, the lowest score given to Tyga since 2006. [edit]
