Suzuran Yamauchi

Suzuran Yamauchi is a Japanese entertainer and former idol best known for her tenure as a member of the girl group SKE48. Born on December 8, 1994, in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, she built a nearly twelve-year career performing with Team S after transferring from AKB48's Team B. Following her graduation from the group in late 2021, she pivoted to work as a tarento and professional golf coach.

Today, Yamauchi runs her own golf studio named "Choco" alongside an attached Italian restaurant called "BeleMoco." She remains active in the entertainment industry through television appearances and by hosting her own YouTube channel, Suzuran Golf Channel. Her public persona blends the energy of her idol past with a serious dedication to the sport of golf, a passion inherited from her parents who were both professional players. [edit]

Yamauchi was born into a family deeply rooted in the world of golf. Both of her parents were professional golfers, which meant she spent much of her childhood on the fairway rather than a playground. This early exposure sparked a genuine desire to become a professional player herself, and she began training at a very young age. By the time she entered high school, she had already developed a solid swing, eventually recording a personal best score of 80. Her potential was significant enough that professional golfer Masahiro Kuramoto partnered with her during a pro-am tournament in 2011, publicly noting that she possessed the talent required for a professional career.

Despite her athletic focus, Yamauchi answered a different call when she joined the competitive audition circuit for the "48 Group" idols in 2009. She entered as a ninth-generation research student for AKB48, marking the start of her journey in the entertainment industry. During this period, she balanced her rigorous golf training with the demands of idol life, honing her performance skills while maintaining her amateur status in the sport. Her transfer to SKE48's Team S shortly after joining established her as a unique bridge between the two sister groups, allowing her to gain experience in both franchises before settling into her long-term role within SKE48. [edit]

Yamauchi's breakthrough moment came during her early years in the 48 Group system, where she quickly became a staple of Team S. She participated in the highly anticipated 24th Single Senbatsu Janken Taikai in 2011, a pivotal rock-paper-scissors tournament that determined the lineup for major singles. Her career continued to evolve with roles in various media projects, including a feature in the documentary film released alongside SKE48's 47-prefecture tour in 2014 and a cast role in the stage musical adaptation of AKB49: Love Story in 2016.

In 2021, she achieved a significant milestone by being selected for the senbatsu lineup of the single "Ano Koro no Kimi wo Mitsuketa." However, later that year, she made the decision to leave the group. On October 7, 2021, she announced her graduation, which officially took place on November 30 at the SKE48 Theater. Post-graduation, she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a golf coach. Although she failed the first stage of the PGA of Japan teaching license examination in June 2022, she persevered by opening her own business. In July 2022, she launched "Choco," a golf studio featuring an Italian restaurant named "BeleMoco." She further advanced her credentials in January 2024 by passing a caddy training course, solidifying her transition from stage performer to sports professional. [edit]

Yamauchi cultivated a distinct public image as the "golfer idol." Unlike many peers who focused solely on dancing or singing, she was known for her serious approach to golf, often discussing swing mechanics and course strategy in variety shows. Media outlets portrayed her as a versatile talent capable of transitioning from the bright lights of the stage to the technical world of sports coaching. Her style was generally casual and approachable, reflecting her down-to-earth personality and love for the outdoors. Even after graduation, she maintained this image by consistently sharing golf-related content on social media, reinforcing her identity as a dedicated athlete and entrepreneur. [edit]

Suzuran Yamauchi currently holds no global ranking in the iFANN fame index, as data collection for her profile remains incomplete. The metrics that drive celebrity influence, media saturation, search volume, and cultural consumption are actively tracked worldwide, but this specific entry awaits the necessary inputs to assign a position on the global stage. The absence of a rank does not diminish her presence within the Japanese entertainment landscape, where she carved out a distinct identity spanning over a decade. She is not featured on the August 2026 iFAMOUS Rankings flagship list.

Her fanbase operates under the broad umbrella of the 48 Group community rather than a singular, unique moniker; the fanbase has no formal name documented. Fans who followed her journey from a research student to a veteran of Team S typically identify her by affectionate nicknames like "Suzuran" or "Ranran." Unlike top-tier idols who command massive, organized campaigns with subway ads and exclusive birthday billboards, Yamauchi's support network functioned through standard group interactions and general idol fandom channels. Her nearly twelve-year tenure created a stable foundation of loyalty among those who watched her transition between AKB48 and SKE48, yet no isolated, high-visibility projects emerged exclusively to mobilize her personal following. The audience remained part of the collective idol ecosystem, celebrating her graduation in late 2021 without the myth-making frenzy seen in other corners of the industry. [edit]

One of the most enduring stories about Yamauchi involves her amateur golf prowess. Professional golfer Masahiro Kuramoto, who played alongside her in a 2011 pro-am event, famously praised her swing and stated she had the potential to go pro if she hadn't chosen the idol path. This narrative has become a key part of her legacy among fans who followed her dual interests.

Her career trajectory within the 48 Group is historically notable because she transferred from AKB48's Team B to SKE48's Team S. This cross-group movement was rare at the time and positioned her as a veteran link between the two franchises. Fans often refer to her affectionately as "Ranran," a nickname derived from her given name.

After graduating from SKE48, Yamauchi faced a significant setback when she failed the initial stage of the PGA of Japan teaching license exam in 2022. Rather than giving up, she opened her own golf studio and restaurant, demonstrating resilience in pursuing her non-entertainment goals despite the challenges of the industry. [edit]

Yamauchi was raised in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, by parents who were both professional golfers. Their influence shaped her early life, leading her to spend countless hours on the golf course instead of typical childhood activities. While she kept her personal life private during her idol career, she has occasionally mentioned her family's support in interviews. She currently lives independently while managing her business ventures in Tokyo. There are no public records of siblings or other extended family members being involved in the entertainment industry. Throughout her career as an idol and her subsequent life as a tarento, Yamauchi has maintained a strictly private personal life. The strict dating bans common in the idol industry during her active years from 2009 to 2021 likely contributed to the lack of publicized relationships. Despite rumors circulating among fans regarding her personal life, there are no credible reports of engagements, marriages, or confirmed romantic partnerships. She has focused primarily on her career and her passion for golf, keeping her relationships away from the spotlight. As of 2026, she is reported to be single. [edit]

iFANN currently estimates Suzuran Yamauchi's net worth at approximately $2 million. This figure reflects her earnings from a successful idol career spanning over a decade, followed by her transition into television and business ownership. Her income streams include salaries from television appearances and variety shows as a tarento, revenue generated from her golf studio "Choco," and profits from her attached Italian restaurant "BeleMoco." Additionally, she earns from merchandise sales, including photobooks, and occasional golf-related endorsements. While exact figures for individual projects remain private, the combination of her entertainment salary and business ventures supports a modest but stable financial standing as of 2026. [edit]
