Suki-ish

AKB48 unveiled their sixty-eighth major single Suki-ish in June 2026, setting a release date of August 19 for the EMI Records Japan label. The track anchors its performance around Ito Momoka, who holds the center position and brings a distinct stage presence to the group's latest chapter. This release marks a shift in leadership dynamics as new members integrate into the core Senbatsu roster alongside veterans.

Lyricist Yasushi Akimoto crafted words exploring tentative affection and one-sided love, while composer Youth Case built a soundscape blending energetic J-pop rhythms with signature catchy hooks. The arrangement shifts between upbeat dance sequences and softer vocal moments, creating a dynamic listening experience that matches the song's themes. Fans noted how the production balances the massive roster against intimate lyrical concepts like "Maybe it's just a one-sided love" and "Let hey, hey, hey, I'm talking about you." The music video dropped on July 13, 2026, ahead of the physical single launch. Directed with a retro-themed aesthetic, the visual serves as an answer to previous performances at the Nippon Budokan while highlighting individual talents within the larger ensemble. Overseas media outlets highlighted the clip as a key promotional tool, emphasizing the youthful energy captured by the 16-member lineup. [edit]
