Steven Jerome Pienaar, born on 17 March 1982 in Johannesburg, is a South African former professional footballer who now coaches the U14 team at Sharjah FC in the United Arab Emirates. Growing up in the Westbury suburb of Johannesburg's Westrand, Pienaar rose to prominence as a dynamic winger and attacking midfielder. He captained the South African national team and enjoyed a successful club career across South Africa, the Netherlands, Germany, and England, playing for Ajax Cape Town, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, and Bidvest Wits.
