Records
Stephen Sondheim's trophy case is among the most decorated in theater history. He won eight Tony Awards, a record for a composer-lyricist, and his shows have collectively won more than 30 competitive Tonys. He is one of only two people to win a Tony, an Oscar, a Grammy, and a Pulitzer Prize (the other being Richard Rodgers). His works have been performed on every continent, and his influence on musical theater is immeasurable.
