Records
Stephen Chow is one of the most honored filmmakers in Hong Kong cinema. He has won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Director three times, for Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, and The Mermaid. His film Kung Fu Hustle earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2005, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Shanghai International Film Festival. His films have broken box office records across Asia, with The Mermaid becoming the highest-grossing film in China at the time of its release.
