    About

The club traces its origins to April 8, 1956, when it was established as a representative of the Soviet cotton industry in the capital. This agricultural heritage gave rise to the nickname Pakhtakor, which translates directly to Cotton Grower. The team quickly rose through the ranks of Soviet football, becoming the only Central Asian side to reach the final of the Soviet Cup in 1979 before losing to SKA Rostov.

After the collapse of the USSR in 1992, Pakhtakor transitioned into the newly formed Uzbekistan Super League and immediately asserted its dominance. They secured their first continental title in 2004 by winning the AFC Champions League, a feat no other Uzbek club has matched. The squad continues to serve as the primary talent pipeline for the national team while maintaining a fierce rivalry with Neftchi Fergana known locally as the Uzbek Derby.

    History

During the Soviet era, the club operated under the banner of the Ministry of Agriculture and became a powerhouse within the region. Their 1979 Soviet Cup final appearance remains a historic milestone for Central Asian football. Following independence, the club won multiple league titles and cup trophies, solidifying its status as the most decorated team in the country's history.

In recent years, the team has faced high-profile opponents on the Asian stage. During the 2026 AFC Champions League campaign, Pakhtakor played against Saudi giants Al Nassr in late October and November. A home match in Tashkent saw the visitors defeat them 2–6, with Joao Felix scoring for the opposition. Despite this loss, the team finished second in the 2026 Superliga standings with 56 points under the management of Shota Arveladze.
