Inter Miami CF

Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami, commonly known as Inter Miami CF, is a professional soccer club based in the Miami metropolitan area. The team competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Approved by MLS on January 29, 2018, as the league's 25th franchise, the club played its inaugural season in March 2020. Co-owned by David Beckham, Jorge Mas, and Jose Mas, Inter Miami quickly became a global brand, especially after signing Lionel Messi in 2023. As of 2025, the club is valued at $1.2 billion, second in MLS behind Los Angeles FC.

The team plays its home matches at Nu Stadium (also called Miami Freedom Park) since April 2026, a new venue near Miami International Airport. Previously, from 2020 to early 2026, they played at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, a 21,550-seat stadium built on the site of the old Lockhart Stadium for about $60 million. The club's distinctive all-pink identity, championed by Beckham, has made it instantly recognizable, and its Spanish-language official name reflects Miami's multicultural heritage.

Inter Miami's fan base grew exponentially after Messi's arrival, leading to Chase Stadium's capacity expansion. The club's first major trophy came in 2023 with the Leagues Cup, followed by the 2024 Supporters' Shield. In 2025, they won their first MLS Cup championship, defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3–1 on December 6. Inter Miami CF was officially announced as an MLS expansion team on January 29, 2018, with David Beckham exercising a clause in his contract to own a franchise at a discounted rate. The club's name and crest were unveiled in September 2018, featuring two great white herons forming an 'M' over a sun motif. The team began play in the 2020 season under head coach Diego Alonso, but struggled initially, finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference in their debut year. In 2021, the club signed high-profile players like Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuaín, but missed the playoffs.

Phil Neville took over as head coach in 2021 and led the team to the playoffs in 2022, though they were eliminated in the first round. The turning point came in June 2023 when Lionel Messi joined on a free transfer, along with former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. Under manager Gerardo Martino, Inter Miami won the 2023 Leagues Cup, their first trophy, and qualified for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup. In 2024, they secured the Supporters' Shield for the best regular-season record. The 2025 season saw Javier Mascherano appointed as head coach, and the team won both the Eastern Conference and MLS Cup, setting a league record for most goals in a single season.

The club's early years were marked by stadium uncertainty. Initially planning to build a stadium in Miami's Overtown neighborhood, the club instead renovated the former Lockhart Stadium site in Fort Lauderdale, opening Chase Stadium in 2020. In April 2026, they moved into Nu Stadium, part of the Miami Freedom Park development near Miami International Airport.
