    About

FC Midtjylland is a Danish professional football club established on February 2, 1999, through the merger of Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Representing the western Jutland region, the club is based in Herning and Ikast. They compete in the Danish Superliga, the country's top football division.

The team plays its home matches at the MCH Arena, a venue that opened in 2003 and can accommodate over 11,000 spectators. The club has achieved significant success since its formation, securing four Danish Superliga titles, with the most recent one in 2024. They also won their first Danish Cup in 2019 and made their debut in the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2020.

    History

FC Midtjylland's origins trace back to the merger of Ikast FS and Herning Fremad, two clubs with a long-standing rivalry in the region. The formation of FC Midtjylland in 1999 aimed to create a stronger, unified force in Danish football.

The club quickly established itself as a competitive entity. Their first major trophy came with the Danish Superliga title in the 2014-15 season. This success was followed by further league championships in the 2019-20, 2021-22, and 2023-24 seasons. The 2019 Danish Cup victory added another significant domestic honor to their record.

On the European stage, FC Midtjylland has made several appearances in UEFA competitions. A notable result was their 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Cup on August 14, 2008. The club also qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in the 2020-21 season, marking a significant milestone in their history.
