Colorado Rapids

The Colorado Rapids entered Major League Soccer as one of its ten founding franchises in 1995, beginning play the following year. The club originated under Anschutz Corporation before ownership transferred to AEG and later settled with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, which also oversees the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Mammoth.

Since the 2007 season, the team has called Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City home after previously playing at Mile High Stadium and Folsom Field. This dedicated facility sits at a high elevation that creates distinct physical challenges for visiting opponents.

Two MLS Cup titles define the franchise's history, first arriving in 1997 with an overtime victory over D.C. United and returning in 2010 via a 2–1 extra-time win against the Houston Dynamo. Recent matches highlight the team's resilience, particularly during the 2026 MLS season. On September 12, 2026, the Rapids defeated CF Montréal 1–0 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, extending their home unbeaten streak to six consecutive shutouts. Paxten Aaronson scored the decisive goal while newcomers Whittaker and Abu Farkhi made their debuts for the club.
