Club de Fútbol Monterrey, commonly known as Rayados de Monterrey, is a powerhouse in Mexican football. Based in the bustling Monterrey metropolitan area, the club has called Estadio BBVA home since 2015. Founded on June 28, 1945, it stands as the oldest active professional team in Northern Mexico. Since 1999, beverage giant FEMSA has owned the club, providing financial muscle that shows in its high-profile signings and consistent title challenges.

Rayados, a nickname drawn from their traditional navy blue and white striped jerseys, compete in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football. Their trophy cabinet sparkles with five Liga MX championships and three Copa MX titles. On the international stage, they have lifted the CONCACAF Champions League five times and the CONCACAF Cup Winners' Cup once. Twice, in 2012 and 2019, they finished third at the FIFA Club World Cup, beating Manchester United and Barcelona along the way. In 2020, they made history as only the second Mexican club to secure a treble, sweeping Liga MX Clausura, Copa MX, and the CONCACAF Champions League in a single season.

Their fiercest rivals are Tigres UANL, and the Clásico Regiomontano between the two is one of the most electric derbies in the Americas. Club de Fútbol Monterrey was founded on June 28, 1945, making it the oldest active professional club in northern Mexico. The early decades saw the club bounce between the top flight and second division, but a turning point came in the 1980s. In 1986, Monterrey captured its first league title, a moment that ignited a passionate following across the region.

The modern era of success began after FEMSA took ownership in 1999. With deep pockets, the club started attracting top talent from across the continent. The 2000s brought more silverware, including the Apertura 2003 and Clausura 2009 titles. But it was the early 2010s that truly put Monterrey on the global map. Under coach Víctor Manuel Vucetich, the team won three consecutive CONCACAF Champions League titles from 2011 to 2013, a feat only a handful of clubs have matched. That run included a memorable 2012 Club World Cup campaign where they beat Chelsea to finish third.

The club continued to add to its legacy with a Clausura 2017 title and another CONCACAF Champions League win in 2019. That same year, they reached third place at the Club World Cup again, this time downing Al Sadd. In 2020, Monterrey achieved a rare treble, winning the Clausura, Copa MX, and the CONCACAF Champions League all in one season.
