Barranquilla F.C.

Barranquilla Fútbol Club, often simply called Barranquilla FC, is a professional Colombian football club based in the coastal city of Barranquilla. The team competes in the Categoría Primera B, the second division of Colombian football. Their home matches are played at the Estadio Romelío Martínez, a stadium that has seen many of the club's significant moments.

Founded on 8 April 2005, Barranquilla FC emerged with the ambition of reaching Colombia's top flight, the Categoría Primera A. While they have yet to achieve promotion to the first division, the club has established itself as a consistent competitor in the Primera B. They are known for developing young talent and often serve as a stepping stone for players looking to make their mark in Colombian and international football. Barranquilla FC was founded on 8 April 2005 when a group of businessmen, led by Arturo Char, saw an opportunity to give the city a second professional club. They acquired the membership rights of Johann and entered the Categoría Primera B immediately. The club was designed as a feeder team for Atlético Junior, also owned by the Char family, and has focused on nurturing young talent rather than chasing silverware.

In July 2026, Barranquilla FC pulled off one of the most stunning upsets in Colombian cup history. Facing parent club Junior in the Copa Colombia, they drew 2-2 at the Metropolitano and 3-3 at Romelío Martínez, then won the penalty shootout 5-3.
