About
Association Sportive de Cannes carries the weight of a century-old tradition on the French Riviera. Founded in 1902 as a multi-sport organization, the club eventually focused its energy on football and has navigated over a hundred years of competition ranging from the pinnacle of French football to regional tiers. The squad currently competes in Ligue 3 after securing promotion from the Championnat National 1 for the 2025–26 season.
The team plays its home matches at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin located in Cannes. This venue holds approximately 12,800 seats and serves as the primary training ground for the players. Manager Mathieu Chabert guides the squad through their campaign while the fanbase fills the stands with blue and white jerseys.
History
The club reached its zenith during the late 1970s and early 1980s when they won the French Division 1 title in the 1974–75 season. That remains the only time the club has been crowned national champions. They also claimed the Coupe de France in 1970 by defeating Olympique Lyonnais in the final which secured their place as a major force in French football during that era.
AS Cannes built a reputation for nurturing young talent and hosting legendary players who went on to achieve international fame. Just Fontaine scored a record number of goals in a single World Cup tournament while playing for the club early in his career. Michel Platini spent a brief period with the side before moving to Nancy and eventually St Etienne. Eric Cantona also played for Cannes briefly before his rise to stardom at Marseille and Leeds United.
