Sportivo Ameliano

Founded on January 6, 1936, Sportivo Ameliano operates out of the Virgen del Huerto neighborhood in Asunción. The club spent decades building its foundation in lower divisions before securing promotion to the top tier following the 2021 season. They made their debut in the Paraguayan Primera División during the 2022 campaign and have since established themselves as a resilient competitor against the nation's traditional giants.

The team plays its home matches at the Estadio José Tomás Silva, a venue that serves as the spiritual center for the local community. Supporters view the club as a representation of neighborhood values rather than a purely commercial enterprise. Recent performances include competitive draws against Cerro Porteño and Olimpia in 2026, alongside a notable 1-0 victory over Atlético Paranaense in the Copa Sudamericana. [edit]

The club began operations in 1936 as a local entity within the Virgen del Huerto district. For many years, the squad navigated the Paraguayan second division without securing a top-flight title. A successful 2021 season culminated in their promotion to the highest level of domestic competition. This ascent marked the end of a long period in the second tier and signaled their arrival among the country's elite clubs.

Since entering the top flight in 2022, the team has qualified for continental tournaments like the Copa Sudamericana. Their record includes significant results such as a 2-2 draw with Cerro Porteño in October 2026 and a narrow defeat to Olimpia later that year. The squad also secured an away win against Brazilian side Atlético Paranaense, demonstrating growing competitiveness on the international stage. [edit]
