Sour Candy

Lady Gaga and Blackpink joined forces for Sour Candy, a high-energy collaboration released on May 28, 2020. This track served as the first promotional single from Gaga's sixth studio album, Chromatica. The song blends deep house, dance-pop, and electropop into a bubblegum package that feels both retro and futuristic. Its lyrics compare the artists to the titular candy, suggesting they are tough on the outside but sweet inside.

The writing team included Gaga alongside Madison Love, Rami Yacoub, Teddy Park, and producers BloodPop and Burns. Critics offered mixed reactions, praising the infectious production while some found the verses lacking depth. Despite the divided opinions, the track charted in multiple countries, hitting number one in Malaysia and Singapore. [edit]
