Sorry Not Sorry

Demi Lovato kicked off the campaign for her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me, with the defiant anthem "Sorry Not Sorry." Released on July 11, 2017, through Island, Hollywood, and Safehouse Records, the track was co-written by Lovato with Sean Douglas, Trevor Brown, William Zaire Simmons, and producer Oak Felder. Blending pop and contemporary R&B, the song exudes confidence and unapologetic self-assurance. A stripped-down acoustic version later appeared on the deluxe edition of the album, and in 2023, Lovato released a re-recorded version featuring guitarist Slash as part of her remix album Revamped.

The music video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, dropped on July 19, 2017, via Vevo. Commercially, "Sorry Not Sorry" became Lovato's highest-charting single in the United States, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it 7x Platinum. Internationally, the song cracked the top ten in several countries and earned platinum or multi-platinum certifications in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.

Lovato promoted the single with intimate house party performances and appearances on Good Morning America, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards and American Music Awards. The track received a VMAs nomination for Song of Summer in 2017 and a Best Pop nomination the following year. It became a staple on the set lists of the Tell Me You Love Me World Tour (2018), the Holy Fvck Tour (2022), and the It's Not That Deep Tour (2026). [edit]
