Shakira brought a fiery dance track to the airwaves with "Rabiosa," a song that blends merengue rhythms with electronic dance beats. The track appears on her ninth studio album, Sale el Sol, released in 2010. Two versions were issued: one in Spanish featuring Dominican artist El Cata, and an English version with Pitbull. The lyrics are playful and sexually charged, matching the song's high-energy production. Written by Shakira, Pitbull, and El Cata, "Rabiosa" draws from an earlier El Cata song of the same name. Epic Records released it as the album's third single on April 8, 2011.

Critics generally praised the track, with many calling it a standout on the album. Commercially, it performed strongly, topping charts in Portugal and Spain and reaching the top ten in ten other countries. In the United States, it peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. The song earned double-platinum certification in Mexico and platinum in Italy and Spain.

The music video, directed by Jaume de Laiguana, shows Shakira enjoying an underground party with scenes of her pole dancing. Critics compared it to her 2009 video for "She Wolf."
