Push 2 Start arrived on October 11, 2024 as part of the deluxe edition of Tyla's self-titled debut album. The track is a slick fusion of amapiano, pop, R&B, reggae, and reggaeton, built around car-themed metaphors that play up attraction and commitment. Written by Tyla alongside Imani Lewis, Corey Marlon Lindsay-Keay, Ariowa Irosogie, Samuel Awuku, and James McCarthy, production was handled by Ari PenSmith, Mocha Bands, and Rayo. The song runs just 2 minutes and 36 seconds, but it packs a lot of texture: Sammy Soso contributed background vocals, bass programming, and arrangement, giving the beat a warm, layered feel.

Critics latched onto the track's confident delivery and the way Tyla's vocals glide over the groove. EUPHORIA. called it a sexy, vibrant R&B track with easy-swaying vibes and impeccable delivery. The song was first teased at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, and Tyla later performed a mashup of Push 2 Start and Water at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show that same year. It also landed on compilation albums like NOW That's What I Call Music! 120 and BRAVO Hits, Vol. 128 in 2025, and was included in the soundtrack for NBA 2K26.

Commercially, Push 2 Start charted modestly: it peaked at number 20 on New Zealand's Top 40, number 44 in Australia, and number 55 in Switzerland. It spent ten weeks on both the Irish and Canadian charts, reaching number 60 and 70 respectively. No RIAA certification has been reported yet. A remix featuring Sean Paul dropped in 2025, giving the song a fresh dancehall twist. [edit]
