Girl Like Me

Will.i.am and Shakira brought a decade-old demo to life in December 2020 with Girl Like Me, a track that originally surfaced during the band's early planning phases. The song sat on a shelf since 2008 before finally landing on the group's eighth studio album, Translation. This late arrival allowed the production to evolve from its initial concept into a polished blend of electronic beats and Latin pop rhythms that defined the era.

The collaboration merges the Black Eyed Peas' signature synth-heavy sound with Shakira's powerful vocals, creating an anthem designed for global dance floors. Will.i.am handled the production duties while Stacy Barthe contributed to the songwriting alongside the lead artists. The result is a high-energy piece that feels both nostalgic and fresh, capturing the essence of international pop culture without relying on outdated tropes. [edit]
