On July 13, 2017, Selena Gomez dropped Fetish as a standalone single via Interscope Records. The track features Gucci Mane and was produced by Jonas Jeberg alongside the duo Joe Khajadourian and Alex Schwartz, known as The Futuristics. It later appeared as a bonus track on international and Target editions of Gomez's 2020 album Rare.

The song's minimalist indie pop production, sparse syncopated beats, atmospheric synths, and Gomez's breathy vocals, marked a clear departure from her earlier dance-pop hits. Lyrically, it circles obsessive desire and emotional dependency. Critics like Billboard called it haunting, while Pitchfork noted its eerie, understated production. The music video, directed by Petra Collins and released July 26, 2017, features surreal pastel imagery: Gomez drinking milk, licking a spoon, handling raw chicken. As of early 2025, the video has over 280 million views on YouTube.

Commercially, Fetish reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cracked the top 10 in Canada (3), the Czech Republic (6), Hungary (9), Malaysia (10), and Slovakia (6). It also charted in the UK (33) and Australia (23). The RIAA certified it platinum for one million units sold in the US, and it earned platinum in Canada. The song was nominated for Choice Music Song: Female Artist at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards.[edit]
