On July 24, 2026, Morgan Wallen dropped "Been By Now," his first solo single of the year. The song arrived through Big Loud Records under exclusive license to Mercury Records and Republic Records. Wallen had been teasing the track since early June, sharing snippets on social media before a fuller version leaked online later that month. He gave fans a live preview during a sold-out Baltimore concert on July 17, then officially announced the release date.

The track runs 3 minutes and 33 seconds and was written by Wallen alongside Charlie Handsome, who also produced it with Joey Moi. Lyrically, "Been By Now" centers on accepting a breakup, with the narrator realizing that if a relationship was meant to last, they would have made it work by now. Wallen explained that the song came together quickly, and its release strategy included a multi-format radio push: servicing to US Hot AC stations on July 27, followed by pop and country stations on July 28.

Upon release, "Been By Now" became the most-added country single of the week, securing commitments from 157 of 158 Mediabase-monitored country stations.
