Something Beautiful

Miley Cyrus dropped her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, on May 30, 2025, via Columbia Records. This concept project tackles trauma and healing with a sound that feels both hypnotic and glamorous. Cyrus co-produced the record with Shawn Everett and assembled a massive team of collaborators including Molly Rankin, Alec O'Hanley, Danielle Haim, Flea, and Adam Granduciel. Guest vocals appear from Brittany Howard on "Walk of Fame" and Naomi Campbell on "Every Girl You've Ever Loved." The standard edition spans 13 tracks over 52 minutes, while a September 2025 deluxe version added two songs featuring members of Fleetwood Mac and David Byrne.

The album's sonic landscape blends pop, progressive pop, art rock, and art pop into slow-burn arrangements that support its existential themes. Cyrus cited Pink Floyd's The Wall as a primary inspiration, stating she wanted to "medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music." A visual film accompanying the release premiered on June 6, 2025, weaving the songs into a narrative extension of the record's emotional arc.

Reception remained divided among critics. Pitchfork dismissed the work as a "concept album without a concept," and The Daily Telegraph described portions as "practically unlistenable." Conversely, Atwood Magazine called it a pivotal career turning point, and Billboard labeled it her rawest effort yet. Commercially, the record hit number one in Austria and entered the top 10 in over a dozen countries, including the US and UK. At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in 2026, the album secured a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. [edit]
