Something Beautiful

Miley Cyrus has never been one to play it safe, but Something Beautiful finds her pushing into territory that feels both risky and deeply personal. Released May 30, 2025, through Columbia Records, this ninth studio album is a concept piece about healing from trauma and finding light in the darkest corners. Cyrus calls it "hypnotizing and glamorous," a phrase that fits the record's slow-burn production and layered arrangements. She executive produced alongside Shawn Everett, bringing in a crew that includes Molly Rankin and Alec O'Hanley from Alvvays, Cole Haden of Model/Actriz, Danielle Haim, Flea, Pino Palladino, Adam Granduciel from the War on Drugs, and guest spots from Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard. The deluxe edition, released later in September 2025, adds two more tracks featuring members of Fleetwood Mac and David Byrne.

The standard album runs 13 tracks over 52 minutes, with interludes that break up the emotional arc. Lead single "End of the World" dropped April 3, 2025, followed by promotional tracks "Prelude," the title track, and "More to Lose." "Easy Lover" arrived as a single on July 4. Cyrus described the album as an attempt to "medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music," citing Pink Floyd's The Wall as a key inspiration. The accompanying musical film premiered June 6, 2025, weaving the songs into a visual narrative that extends the album's themes.

Critical reception was split. Pitchfork called it a "concept album without a concept," while The Daily Telegraph found it "practically unlistenable." But Atwood Magazine hailed it as a turning point, and Billboard ranked it as Cyrus's most raw work yet, calling it "a clear snapshot of an artist who has put in the work, and emerged in her prime." Commercially, it topped the charts in Austria and landed in the top 10 in over a dozen countries, including the US and UK. The album also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. [edit]
