Slappy the Dummy

Kevin and Greg stumbled upon an old ventriloquist dummy at a yard sale in August 1993, hoping to use it for a school performance. A scrap of paper hidden inside the doll's jacket pocket held a cryptic phrase that changed everything. When the boys read "You and I are one now" aloud, they unknowingly activated the prop and bound themselves to its will.

Once awake, Slappy spoke with a raspy voice and demanded total control over his young masters. He forced them to carry out his commands while framing them for the violent acts he committed himself. The brothers managed to destroy the dummy by the story's end, but the narrative did not stop there as the character returned to haunt new families in later installments. [edit]
