Skip and Loafer, known in Japanese as Sukippu to Rōfā, is a manga series by Misaki Takamatsu that has been running in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon since August 25, 2018. The story follows Mitsumi Iwakura, a small-town overachiever from a coastal village who moves to Tokyo to attend the prestigious Tsubame West High School, aiming to become a government official and change Japan. Her meticulously laid plans for academic and social success quickly unravel, but she forms an unlikely friendship with Sousuke Shima, a charming but somewhat aimless and popular classmate. The two navigate the ups and downs of high school life, with the series emphasizing realistic character growth, small moments, and the honest portrayal of teenage struggles, avoiding melodrama in favor of relatable, warm storytelling.

The manga has been licensed for English release by Seven Seas Entertainment, and its popularity has led to an anime adaptation by P.A. Works that aired from April to June 2023, streaming on Crunchyroll. The anime won the Best Storytelling Award at the 29th Shanghai Television Festival. A second season has been announced and is in production, with a teaser visual and main staff revealed as of late 2025, though no release date has been confirmed. The series has also inspired a stage musical adaptation, announced in September 2025, and a dedicated exhibition was held at Telepia Hall in Nagoya starting January 31, 2026. A manga box set containing the first five volumes is scheduled to ship in December 2026, priced at $74.99.

Critical reception has been largely positive, with reviewers praising the series as a comfort show for its emphasis on self-love and its light-hearted yet sincere narrative. However, at least one contrarian fan review on Reddit has criticized the series as a wish-fulfillment fantasy, arguing that its premise of a country girl easily making friends in Tokyo is unrealistic. Despite this, the manga has achieved significant commercial success, with over 2.3 million copies in circulation by March 2024, and won the 47th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in 2023.
