Siri

Siri (pronounced SEER-ee) is Apple's virtual assistant, a voice-activated chatbot woven into iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, tvOS, audioOS, and visionOS. It responds to natural-language queries, handles gestures, and tracks your focus to answer questions, set reminders, control smart home devices, and pull up information from the web. Over time, it learns your speech patterns and preferences, so results feel personal.

The assistant traces its roots to a project at SRI International's Artificial Intelligence Center. Its speech recognition engine came from Nuance Communications, and the original voice actors recorded their lines around 2005, unaware of the future role.
