Shure

Shure started in 1925 when Sidney N. Shure opened a one-man radio parts shop in Chicago. Within a decade, the company shifted from distribution to manufacturing, releasing its first product, the Two-Button Carbon Microphone, in 1932. The real breakthrough came in 1939 with the Unidyne Model 55, a single-element unidirectional dynamic microphone that became an instant classic. That design is still in production today, a testament to its timeless engineering.

Shure's reputation for durability and reliability was cemented by two icons: the SM57 (1965) and the SM58 (1966). The SM58, in particular, became the default vocal microphone for live performances, used by everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Beyoncé. Beyond microphones, Shure built a comprehensive ecosystem of wireless systems (Axient Digital, ULX-D), personal monitors (PSM series), professional headphones (SRH and AONIC lines), and conferencing solutions (Microflex Ecosystem). The company's products are found in broadcast studios, concert halls, houses of worship, and corporate boardrooms worldwide.

Shure remains family-owned, with Sidney's descendants still holding the reins. In 2022, Christine Schyvinck became the first non-family CEO, a sign of the company's evolution while maintaining its core values. Manufacturing happens in Niles, Illinois, and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, with sales offices across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
