Shirley Jones' career is marked by a rare achievement: winning an Oscar for a dramatic role after being typecast as a musical ingénue. She is one of the few actresses to win for playing a prostitute. Her films Oklahoma! and The Music Man are preserved in the National Film Registry. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle in 2022.
