Shabana Mahmood has broken multiple barriers in British politics. She was one of the first female Muslim MPs elected in 2010. In 2024, she became the first Muslim Lord Chancellor in British history. In 2025, she became the first Muslim woman to serve as Home Secretary. She also chairs Labour's National Executive Committee.
