Seyran Ateş

Seyran Ateş stands as a pioneering figure in European Muslim feminism. Her establishment of the Ibn Ruschd-Goethe Mosque represents a historic first in Germany for a liberal place of worship. Surviving a targeted assassination attempt in 1997 demonstrates her resilience against extremist violence. Her work has fundamentally shifted the conversation around women's rights within Islamic communities in Europe.
