Worst Ex Ever

Worst Ex Ever is a true-crime docuseries that examines romantic relationships that curdle into something far darker. A direct spin-off of Netflix's Worst Roommate Ever, the show premiered on August 28, 2024, and returned for a second season on May 6, 2026. Each episode reconstructs a real-life case of stalking, domestic abuse, kidnapping, or murder, using police bodycam footage, 911 calls, text messages, and interviews with survivors and their families.

The series is produced by Blumhouse Television and ITV America, with Jason Blum among the executive producers. Director Cynthia Childs, who also helmed the parent series, maintains a consistent visual and narrative approach across all eight episodes. Worst Ex Ever presents four cases per season, each unfolding over roughly an hour. Season 1 opens with Justine Siemens of Grants Pass, Oregon, whose frantic phone call to a friend triggers a statewide manhunt for her boyfriend, a man with a long history of domestic violence. The second episode follows Seemona Sumasar in Queens, New York, who discovers that her partner Jerry Ramrattan has been living under a false identity; after she ends the relationship, he launches a relentless campaign of harassment and legal manipulation. Episode 3 centers on a custody battle that escalates into a murder-for-hire plot, and the season closes with another extreme case of domestic manipulation.

Season 2 widens the scope to cases with national notoriety. Kelly Matthews falls for a man named Steven in 2018, only to learn his true identity is Wade Wilson, a convicted killer whose nickname, the Deadpool Killer, comes from sharing a name with the Marvel character. Kristen Wilson, a Tennessee teacher, matches with Geoffrey Paschel on a dating app, unaware that he has a violent criminal record and is simultaneously appearing on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Katie Long of Largo, Florida, enters a long-distance relationship with Joyce Pelzer, whose controlling behavior and violent outbursts lead Katie to investigate Joyce's missing ex-girlfriend. The season ends with Karen, who files a restraining order against her partner Scott, only to be kidnapped at knifepoint and forced on a cross-country road trip.

Each episode is self-contained, with no overarching narrative connecting the cases. The series relies heavily on first-person testimony, with survivors and family members recounting events in their own words. Law enforcement officials and legal experts provide context, while reenactments and archival materials fill in the visual gaps.
