Together they form the idol group Zwei Wing, using public performances as cover for their secret battles against entities that manipulate sound waves to destroy matter and drive humans mad. The Special Disaster Response Agency (SDR) recruits these warriors to protect humanity from an existential threat.

As the conflict escalates through the first two seasons, the series introduces the concept of X-Drive, a dangerous state where users push their bodies to the limit to access greater power at the cost of their sanity or life. New allies like Chris Yukine and Shem-Ha join the fray, revealing that the Noise are part of a larger ancient war involving the Alca-Noise and remnants of a civilization that once mastered sound magic. The narrative delves into the history of the Goddess and the true origin of the Symphogear system, hinting at conspiracies spanning centuries.

By the third season, internal strife within the SDR and threats from the organization Cure force the characters to confront their pasts. The fourth and fifth installments bring the story to a darker, more mature climax where the heroes must face a resurrected enemy planning to rewrite reality itself.
