Midnight Mass

Mike Flanagan returns to the small screen with Midnight Mass, a Netflix limited series that swaps his usual horror tropes for a slow-burn religious thriller set on a remote island. The show premiered in September 2021 and runs for seven episodes, blending mystery and drama into a tense atmosphere that keeps viewers guessing until the final frame. Critics and audiences alike have responded strongly, with the series holding a solid rating of 7.6 out of 10 based on over 1,300 votes. The story kicks off when Father Paul Hill arrives in Crockett Island, bringing with him miracles that seem too good to be true. Hamish Linklater leads the cast as the charismatic priest whose presence stirs up old wounds and new fears among the locals. He is joined by Zach Gilford as Riley Flynn, a recovering addict struggling to reconnect with his family, and Kate Siegel as Erin Greene, a pregnant woman navigating her own faith crisis. The series explores heavy themes like addiction, alcoholism, and blind belief through a lens that feels both intimate and terrifying.[edit]
