Senryu Girl (Japanese: 川柳少女, Hepburn: Senryū Shōjo) is a manga series by Masakuni Igarashi, serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from October 2016 to April 2020, spanning thirteen tankōbon volumes. The story follows Nanako Yukishiro, a high school girl who cannot speak and instead communicates through senryu, a form of Japanese poetry similar to haiku but often focusing on human foibles. Her classmate Eiji Busujima, a former delinquent with a fearsome appearance but a gentle nature, becomes her friend and love interest. Together they navigate school life as members of the Literature Club, with Nanako's poems serving both as comedic commentary and heartfelt confession.

The series blends slice-of-life comedy with a sweet, understated romance, exploring themes of communication and looking beyond surface impressions. Nanako's silence and Eiji's intimidating looks create a dynamic where the most important words are left unsaid, yet expressed through poetry. The manga's popularity led to a twelve-episode anime adaptation by studio Connect, directed by Masato Jinbo, which aired from April to June 2019. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for global distribution, with simulcasts on HIDIVE and Crunchyroll, and an English dub released in 2020 featuring Natalie Rial as Nanako and Adam Gibbs as Eiji.

During its Spring 2019 broadcast, the anime claimed top spots on Anime Trending charts for female characters and couples, reflecting strong fan engagement. The series also drew attention to the traditional poetic form of senryu among international audiences, contributing to the landscape of short-form romantic comedies of the late 2010s. [edit]
