Sekhukhune United F.C. is a professional soccer club based in Burgersfort, a town in the Sekhukhune District of Limpopo, South Africa. The club competes in the Betway Premiership, the top tier of South African football. Its journey to the top flight is a story of ambition and strategic moves. The club was formed when the owner of African All Stars, a team in the SAFA Second Division, purchased the National First Division licence from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and relocated the club to Limpopo. This bold move paid off immediately: in its inaugural season, Sekhukhune United won the 2020–21 National First Division, securing promotion to the Premiership for the 2021–22 season.

Although the club calls Burgersfort home, it plays its home matches at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, a larger city about 150 kilometers away. For high-profile cup fixtures, they have also used the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, as seen in recent matches against Kaizer Chiefs. The team's first season in the top tier was solid, finishing 11th, and they improved to 7th in their second season. They also made a memorable run to the final of the 2022–23 Nedbank Cup. More recently, in the 2025/26 season, Sekhukhune United reached the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup, where they were eliminated by Milford F.C. on penalties after a 2-2 draw following extra time. Founded in 2019 as African All-Stars, the club began in the ABC Motsepe League, the third tier of South African football. The ownership group then purchased the National First Division licence from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and moved the franchise to Limpopo, rebranding it as Sekhukhune United. That gamble paid off spectacularly. In their first season in the second tier, 2020–21, they won the league title and earned promotion to the DStv Premiership.

Their debut top-flight campaign in 2021–22 saw them finish 11th, a respectable showing for a newly promoted side. The following season they climbed to 7th and reached the final of the Nedbank Cup, a run that put the club on the national radar. In the 2025/26 season they again showed cup pedigree, reaching the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup before losing to Milford F.C. on penalties after a 2-2 draw in extra time. Their recent results include a 3-4 victory over AmaZulu FC in the MTN8 tournament and a 2-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium in August 2026, illustrating their ability to compete with the league's traditional powers.
