    About

Two clubs share this name, and that is the first thing any supporter should understand. SC Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz was founded on 28 June 1919, spent 13 seasons in the Austrian Bundesliga and played UEFA Intertoto Cup football in 2002 and 2004. That club went bankrupt in 2005. The successor, registered as Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz (2005), was constituted on 27 June 2005 and carries the 1919 tradition forward, which is why the @swb1919 handle and the club's own materials still lead with the founding year.

Today the side plays in the Austrian 2. Liga, the second tier. The old "Regional League West" label belongs to the lean post-refoundation years, not the present. Fixtures from the 2026/27 campaign put Bregenz against SKU Amstetten, Austria Lustenau, Wacker Innsbruck, FC Hertha Wels, ASK Voitsberg and FAC Wien.

Home matches happen at the ImmoAgentur Stadion, a ground the club has used since 1951 and which appears in some databases under the older Casino-Stadion name. Vorarlberg is small football territory, so the local identity carries real weight here. The black and white of the name is the whole brand.

    History

The founding date on the certificate reads 28 June 1919, and for eight decades the club built a respectable provincial record in Vorarlberg. The peak arrived at the turn of the millennium. Bregenz reached the UEFA Intertoto Cup twice, in 2002 and 2004, and the club counts 13 Bundesliga seasons in its own records. For a town of Bregenz's size, that run at the top is the reference point fans still measure everything against.

Then came the rupture. The club went bankrupt in 2005, and on 27 June 2005 a successor was formally constituted as Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz (2005). The new entity took on the tradition explicitly, which is why the 1919 date survives on scarves and social profiles even though the legal body is younger. Rebuilding meant starting again in the Vorarlberg and Regional League tiers before climbing back to the second division.

The return to 2. Liga football restored the fixtures that matter most locally. The derby against SC Austria Lustenau is the fixture circled first, and the 24 September 2026 meeting ended 3-1 to Lustenau. Matches against Wacker Innsbruck and FAC Wien have become regular calendar entries again as well.
