Sarah McLachlan stands as one of Canada's most celebrated musical exports, with over 40 million albums sold and a legacy that includes founding the historic Lilith Fair festival. Her album Surfacing remains a landmark, winning two Grammys and four Junos. She has earned twelve Juno Awards in total, more than any other female artist in Canadian history. In 2017, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and in 2018 into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Governor General's Performing Arts Award in 2012 recognized her lifetime contributions. Her philanthropic work through the Sarah McLachlan Foundation has raised over $10 million for music education, and her song "Angel" became an unexpected anthem for animal welfare, raising hundreds of millions for the ASPCA.
