    About

Three local enthusiasts named Raimundo Marques, Mário Ferraz de Campos, and Argemiro de Souza Júnior gathered in the port city of Santos to establish a club that would eventually define Brazilian football. Founded on April 14, 1912, the team emerged to give their hometown representation against giants based in São Paulo. Over more than a century, this regional entity transformed into a global powerhouse known for futebol-arte, an offensive style that prioritizes creativity and technical skill.

The club plays its home matches at Estádio Urbano Caldeira, universally recognized as Vila Belmiro. This intimate venue holds approximately 20,000 spectators and creates an atmosphere often described as intimidating for visiting teams. Beyond the pitch, Santos maintains a multi-sport identity with active squads in futsal and goalball alongside its primary association football operations.

    History

The club's golden era began in the late 1950s when Pelé joined the squad. The forward scored over 1,000 goals for Santos between 1956 and 1974, turning the team into a worldwide spectacle during his tenure. His departure marked a shift, yet the club maintained its reputation as a developer of talent. Neymar Jr. followed this tradition by rising to international stardom at Vila Belmiro before moving to Barcelona in 2013.

Santos secured eight Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles, winning consecutively from 1961 through 1965 and again in 1968. The team also claimed the Copa Libertadores three times, including back-to-back victories in 1962 and 1963. In 2011, they won the continental trophy once more under Muricy Ramalho. Domestically, the club holds a record 22 Campeonato Paulista titles and added a Copa do Brasil victory in 2010.

Recent years have seen the team navigate promotion battles and financial challenges. After winning the 2024 Série B title, Santos returned to the top flight for the 2026 season. On October 18, 2026, the squad rallied past Fluminense to secure a crucial victory that kept them in contention for a top-five finish. Commercial partnerships expanded in October 2026 when Agibank became the official lead sponsor, and the club launched the "Muros da Vila" project to engage fans with community-focused stadium initiatives.
