Ryusuke Hamaguchi's career is marked by a series of historic firsts and prestigious honors. Drive My Car became the first Japanese film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and won Best International Feature Film, a milestone for Japanese cinema. He was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2022. His films have won top prizes at three of the world's most prestigious film festivals: Cannes, Berlin, and Venice.
