    Takahashi is one of the most decorated manga artists in history. She is the second woman and second Japanese person to receive the Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême, a lifetime achievement honor. Her induction into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2018 places her among the greatest comic creators of all time. The Medal with Purple Ribbon from the Japanese government recognizes her cultural contributions. With over 230 million copies sold, she ranks as one of the best-selling authors worldwide.
