    About

Renaissance Sportive de Berkane, or RS Berkane for short, is a Moroccan football club based in the city of Berkane, in the Oriental region of northeastern Morocco. Founded on May 21, 1938, the club has grown from a modest regional side into a formidable force in both Moroccan and African football. Known for its striking orange kits and the passionate support it draws, RS Berkane has earned the nickname "Volcano," a nod to the explosive style of play and the volcanic energy of its fans.

The club competes in the Botola Pro, Morocco's top flight, and has become a consistent presence in the upper echelons of the league table. While the domestic league title has been elusive, RS Berkane has found remarkable success on the continental stage. With three CAF Confederation Cup titles and a CAF Super Cup, they rank as the third most decorated Moroccan club in African competitions, trailing only the giants Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca. This success has elevated the club's profile across the continent and made it a respected name in African football.

The team plays its home matches at the Stade Municipal de Berkane, a venue with a capacity of around 10,000, known for its intense and intimidating atmosphere. The club's administrative structure supports both a men's and a women's team, with the women's side competing in the Moroccan Women's Championship. Under the guidance of coaches like Moïne Chaâbani, RS Berkane blends local talent with international experience, maintaining a tactical discipline that has become their hallmark.

    History

RS Berkane was founded on May 21, 1938, and adopted its current name in 1978. For decades, the club toiled in the lower divisions of Moroccan football, but the turning point came in the 2010s when they began to climb the ranks. Their first major silverware arrived in 2018 when they lifted the Moroccan Throne Cup, followed by another in 2021. The real breakthrough, however, came in continental competitions.

In 2019, RS Berkane won their first CAF Confederation Cup, defeating Zamalek in the final. They repeated the feat in 2022 and again in 2024, becoming only the third Moroccan club to win the competition multiple times. The club also claimed the CAF Super Cup in 2021, beating Al Ahly. These triumphs transformed the club's standing, making them a feared opponent across Africa.

The domestic league title, however, remained elusive until 2024, when they finally clinched the Botola Pro championship. This achievement was the culmination of years of consistent top-half finishes and smart recruitment. The club's rise has been supported by a passionate fan base, and the Stade Municipal de Berkane has become a fortress where many a visiting team has struggled.
