Roony Bardghji

Roony Bardghji is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a right winger for La Liga club Barcelona and the Sweden national team. Born in Kuwait City, he moved to Sweden as a child and rose through the ranks of FC Copenhagen's academy before securing a high-profile transfer to Barcelona in 2024. Known for his agility, close control, and eye for goal, Bardghji is considered one of the most exciting young wingers in European football.

At just 20 years old, he has already drawn comparisons to some of the game's greats for his fearless dribbling and composure in front of goal. His Instagram following of 3 million reflects his growing status as a fan favorite, and his performances for club and country have earned him recognition as a future star. Despite a recent ACL injury, his trajectory remains one of the most closely watched in the sport. [edit]

Roony Bardghji was born on November 15, 2005, in Kuwait City, Kuwait, to a family with roots in both the Gulf and Scandinavia. He grew up in a multicultural household, and his early years in Kuwait were followed by a move to Sweden, where his footballing journey truly began. From a young age, he showed exceptional technical ability and a natural instinct for attacking play, often playing against older children in local youth leagues.

His talent quickly caught the attention of scouts, and he joined the youth setup at FC Copenhagen in Denmark as a teenager. There, he honed his skills under the club's renowned academy system, developing the dribbling and finishing that would later define his game. His performances in youth competitions, including the UEFA Youth League, made him one of the most talked-about prospects in Scandinavia. By the time he was 16, he was already training with the first team, and his rapid rise set the stage for his professional debut. [edit]

Bardghji made his senior debut for FC Copenhagen in 2022, becoming one of the youngest players to feature in the Danish Superliga. His breakthrough season came in 2023, when he scored crucial goals in the Danish Cup and impressed in European competition, earning plaudits for his fearless style. In 2024, he completed a move to Barcelona, joining the Spanish giants as part of their investment in young talent.

At Barcelona, he was integrated into the first-team squad under head coach Hansi Flick, wearing the number 19 shirt. He made his La Liga debut in the 2024-25 season and quickly became a regular option on the right wing, showcasing his ability to beat defenders and create chances. His performances drew interest from Premier League clubs and Valencia, but a serious ACL injury in August 2026 halted his momentum. The injury, his second such setback, ruled him out for 6-7 months and scuppered a potential summer transfer, leaving his future at the club uncertain as he focuses on recovery. [edit]

Bardghji is perceived as a composed and confident young player, known for his flashy dribbling and ability to change a game in an instant. He is often described as a 'street footballer' for his improvisational style, which has endeared him to fans who appreciate flair. On social media, he shares training clips and highlights, but he maintains a relatively low profile compared to other stars his age. His injury has drawn widespread sympathy, with Barcelona fans rallying around him and using the hashtag #RoonyComeback on social media to show support. His marketability is on the rise, and he is seen as a potential future face of Swedish football. [edit]
